W. L. Gary Company strives to provide support for our community. Through donating our time, talents, and other resources, we are committed to making a difference in our community, both locally and globally.

Heat’s On – Water’s Off
A number of W. L. Gary Company technicians volunteer their time and knowledge to the Heat’s On – Water’s Off annual event organized by the Mechanical Contractors Association of Metropolitan Washington’s Service Bureau. Heat’s On – Water’s Off is an event in Prince George’s County that offers free inspection, service, and repair of plumbing and heating equipment for individuals who are elderly and/or disabled. W. L. Gary Company provides service trucks, tools, and material to assist in this effort. Our Service manager volunteers as a service coordinator to help route personnel and answer technical questions.

W. L. Gary Company is a Major Project Contributor of Kingdom Investors, a local non-profit group of business people who help support charitable projects all over the world. These projects range from aiding an abandoned baby center in China, to furnishing a heating system and a dental clinic in an orphanage in Uzbekistan, to furnishing security and lighting for a children’s center in Washington, DC.
Maryland Food Bank
W. L. Gary Company is partnering with Tanks Direct this year for their 2012 Holiday Food Drive. Tanks Direct’s goal is to collect 2000 cans in one month for the Maryland Food Bank. The Maryland Food Bank, an affiliate of Feeding America, was founded in 1979 to coordinate the procurement and distribution of food donations from manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and government agencies to organizations providing free food to the state’s hungry.
Luke’s Wings is an organization that provides travel planning and complimentary airplane tickets to wounded warriors and the families of wounded warriors currently recovering at military hospitals all over the country. Luke’s Wings is currently funding one to two flights per day. W. L. Gary Company has helped sponsor fundraisers in the area and has committed to Luke’s Wings 5 by 50 campaign.

Convoy of Hope
W. L. Gary Company has partnered with Convoy of Hope through their “One Day to Feed the World” program where some of our employees donated one days wages and W. L. Gary Company matched their contribution. We have also partnered with Kingdom Investors and MSCA in their efforts with Convoy. Convoy of Hope is a charity focused on providing food, clean water, and supplies for the needy, both locally and globally. Their services range from community events where they feed thousands locally to being considered a first responder in disaster relief.
At the 2012 MSCA conference in San Diego, W. L. Gary Company joined the MSCA team and Convoy of Hope to bring food to the needy families in San Diego, California. Check out the inspirational video.
Susan G. Komen
W. L. Gary Company not only annually participates in fund raisers for breast cancer but also supports others who participate. Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the global leader of the breast cancer movement, has the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, working together to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures.
Project Home Again
W. L. Gary Company participates in the Mechanical Service Contractors of America (MSCA) community relations program that helps bring missing children home. W. L. Gary Company places magnetic signs of local missing children on our service vehicles to help raise awareness and prompt those with information to contact authorities while driving around the community. A number of children we have highlighted have been found!
The Gary Family joined forces with SOME by collecting food and delivering food baskets to families in need in Washington, DC during the Christmas Season. So Others Might Eat, or SOME, is an interfaith, community-based organization in the District of Columbia that offers a comprehensive, holistic approach to caring for the homeless and extremely poor citizens of our city.
Polar Bear Plunge
Many of W. L. Gary Company’s employees participate in the Polar Bear Plunge, a fundraising event for the Special Olympics sponsored by the Maryland State Police. The Special Olympics works to bring people with intellectual disabilities an opportunity to participate in their communities and develop a belief in themselves to feel empowerment, competence, acceptance, and joy.
United Planning Organization (UPO)
W. L. Gary Company is a supporter of United Planning Organization (UPO), who’s mission is to provide leadership, support, and advocacy to low income and other eligible residents of Washington, DC, to assist them in achieving self-sufficiency and self-determination, and to enhance generally the quality of life in the local community. UPO works to accomplish this through their programs such as drop-out prevention programs, the Foster Grandparent program, employment programs, and many more.
Toys for Tots
At the Annual W. L. Gary Company Christmas party, employees bring toys to donate to Toys for Tots. The objectives of Toys for Tots are to help less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas.
