Fans Help You Feel Cool – Air Conditioning Appreciation Days

Dog Days of Summer - Fans Help Cool - AC Appreciation: What is that called? A FAN? Oh, that's niceIf your space is feeling a little too warm, turn your ceiling fan or portable fan on.  The fan will circulate air in the space.  As it moves the air over your skin you feel cooler.  Fans can allow you to turn your thermostat temperature a little higher while still keeping you cool, saving energy.

Make sure that the fan is blowing air down.  This usually means that your ceiling fan is moving counter-clockwise.

But remember, fans cool a person, not the room.  Fans don’t change the temperature of the room.  Rather they create a wind chill effect, making you feel cooler.  When you leave a room, turn the fan off.  If you aren’t there to feel the effects of the fan, it is a waste of energy to run it.
